Many of us have been building our lives around the invisible safety net that we had our parents tell us about; as their parents told me. Unfortunately, in the current years the fantasy of “Safety Net in the Workplace” has disappeared as do many fantasies. From feeling overworked and burnt out to being underpaid and frustrated, most have begun to look elsewhere for an escape route. Before you do anything rash, think about what you want your ultimate goal(s) to be.

Here are a few things to consider before breaking out of your 9-to-5.

How Much Do You Need?

What should your income, not gross, but the final take home that you enjoy and run your household with, be? How much do you need to keep your family operating? What can you be happy making?

These may seem like simple questions to answer, but they actually need some serious consideration. These answers will allow you to take a serious look at what you need to do to accomplish your financial goals. Through understanding how much you need to make, you will understand how many hours you realistic need to work.

What Is Your Vision for Your Business?

The vision of many businesses is to experience the evolutionary journey of becoming an Enterprise. The opportunity to be in vast locations and be considered a global success.

This may not be your particular vision and you may be content with dominating and being seen as a strong contender within your community helping to bring change in the lives of your neighbors and that’s awesome too.
